Tolls in Moldova: vignettes, controls and fines

Moldova, as part of Europe, has toll regulations for driving on roads, including motorways. However, a distance-based toll is not charged. Instead, a vignette is required for your vehicle to use the roads and motorways. The fee depends on the duration of stay and the vehicle categoryith motorcycles being exempt from the toll.

The vignette for Moldova can be obtained from the official website of the Moldovan road administration at https://evinieta.gov.md/.

How are tolls controlled in Moldova?

In Moldova, toll control on motorways is carried out using manual and automated methods. At checkpoints, toll inspectors check the validity of the vignette as well as the vehicle's license plate number. In addition, automatic cameras and sensors are used on some road sections in the country to detect toll-liable vehicles and to check their status.

Fines

A fine may be imposed for non-payment of the toll or driving without a valid vignette. If you are unable to present proof of payment for your vehicle during an inspection, you may be fined between approx. £219 to £285.
