Toll in Greece

Greece is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe due to its beautiful landscape and unique culture. If you plan to drive to Greece with your vehicle, you must consider the toll rules for your vehicle.
In Greece, most motorways are subject to tolls. Additionally, there are bridges and tunnels in Greece that are regulated by toll fees. However, the traditional adhesive vignette does not exist. E-vignettes or e-tickets are also not available for sale in Greece.

Payment

Conventional payment

Toll fees are regulated by toll stations. Payment at these stations can be made in cash or by card. If you prefer to pay in cash, ensure you carry the exact amount to avoid issues with getting change back.
Credit card payments should be possible in most cases. However, we recommend carrying the exact amount in cash as a precaution.

Electronic payment

As an alternative, it is possible in Greece to carry a transponder in your vehicle. With the transponder, you can reserve a special lane and pay the toll fee in advance. The on-board unit system operates via GPS. Electronic payment via transponder is valid for all motorway operators in Greece
